The Foundation: The Classic Margarita
Before adding spice, let’s remember what makes a Margarita timeless:
-
Tequila (60 ml) – Traditionally blanco for its clean, agave-forward bite.
-
Fresh lime juice (30 ml) – Brings essential tartness and zing.
-
Cointreau or Triple Sec (15 ml) – Adds sweetness and citrus complexity.
-
Salt rim – Enhances balance and brightens flavours.
This base is a harmony of sweet, sour, salty, and strong — the perfect canvas for heat.
Adding the Heat: Spicy Love Margarita
What sets this version apart is the fiery twist:
-
Jalapeño or chilli slices (2–3) – Fruity, bright heat that can be adjusted to taste.
-
Agave nectar (5–10 ml) – Balances spice and ties into tequila’s agave roots.
-
Optional coriander/cilantro – Adds herbaceous freshness and complexity.
Together, these create a Margarita that’s still refreshing but layered with warmth and passion.
